“When did free love become so expensive?”
Are You Worthy? is a chaotic, funny piece of musical theatre that’s only enhanced by the actors’ connections with the audience.
Writer and multi-roller Grant Sharkey takes us on a journey to Class-ton-bury, (a festival with no relation to Glastonbury), where the entrance is permitted by those who win the contest. Controlled by an actual pyramid, we learn quickly the festival isn’t what it seems. We meet influencer Beffany played by Tabitha Wild who embodies the persona comedically and Glory played by Grace Loveless, the nurse who wants to hear the music, provides an angelic soprano. Her solo is magical. Izzy Mawdsley takes to the keys with fluidity and is right on cue with the comedy.
For a scaled-back workshop performance the team behind Are You Worthy? should be proud. They have encapsulated the essence of a festival without distractions, truly a unique experience.
