Quickfire Questions: Harriet Dyer

We are so excited to welcome back Harriet Dyer, whose previous show ‘Trigger Warning’ we loved! (Loved so much she won our inaugural ND Representation Award! She answers our Quickfire Questions about her new show ‘Skin’.

Why did you make this show?

I wanted to tell the story of a girl I once knew and by starting to think about that I realised how much of an effect knowing her had on me and my identity… So I developed that into one big girthy story.

What is the part of the show you’re most proud of?

I’ve put lots of little callbacks to other bits in, I hope no-one sees them coming and I can’t help but to do a little smile after I do each one.

As a disabled practitioner, what do you want to see change at The Edinburgh Fringe?

There’s so much background noise there and everywhere seems to be a sensory overload. I’d like people to look at who they’re talking to just in case someone’s hard of hearing, speak clearly, don’t have an attitude if you’re asked a few times to repeat what you’ve said and just be patient as you don’t know if there is a typhoon causing mayhem in someones head.

Why should we come and see the show?

I craft a story like a laugh-y filled sculpture from my heart and people do say that there’s no-one quite like me so do come along for that experience alone.

Harriet Dyer: Skin is on at the Gilded Balloon – Patter Hoose from the 31st July.
