We’re Back For Our 5th Year!

Can you believe it’s been five years since Neurodiverse Review started? Back in 2022, with the first proper Edinburgh Fringe since Covid, so much had changed. One of the things we learnt collectively as a society was about the many ways a global pandemic impacted us; from race, class, gender, sexuality and disability; so many of us explored our place in the world, and learnt from one other about our intersecting struggles and triumphs!

Neurodiverse Review was born out of editor Simon Jay’s late autism diagnosis. In doing so they discovered a world of different experiences around disability, yet it seemed these were not reflected in the arts. A simple Facebook page was set up and a call out for neurodivergent and disabled acts was made, compiling a list of well over 100 shows!

Fast forward from that first Facebook page to now and we’ve given out dozens of awards, £1000’s to support arts, created a tv pilot commission, supported emerging critics with accommodation and paid work, reviewed 100’s of shows – read by tens of thousands! (We like numbers and stats).

But we’re not stopping there! This year on top of our awards and our reviewing, we’ve expanded to create a podcast, film short interviews, cover more shows with short-form reviews and some other surprises along the way.

We’re looking forward to seeing new acts, and championing their work. You’ll find sign up docs on our socials, so don’t be shy, get in touch.
